Murder of Clay Tiles due to New technology

    From long back,we were seeing houses which were built in clay tiles (roofs). In one era,living in tiles roof houses is the symbol of one's status. Later on,this houses became popular as if smartphone right now. As tiles became popular,its production also increased. Many tiles industries started and at that time,it was one of the wealthy industries.
    But,as technology improved and innovated,the scope of clay tiles started decreasing in slow pace. Roof sheets(cement,metal),concrete roof are begin to popular. People find that these new innovations are more stronger and less problematic.
During rainy season, in clay tiles' houses,there would be the problem of water leaking. Clay tiles can be broken easily when it get hurted. But,in sheets or concretes,there is no such problems and people normally go for that only.
    Now, most of the Tiles industries are closed and remaining few are running under loss. They(few) are changing their products. I visited H.H.Ceramics,Kuthar, and the manager said that,-they had stopped the production of tiles and now they are focusing only on construction blocks.
  Now, clay tiles are only being used for decoration of concrete roof. Only some houses are built by it. But during old days, tiles are very necessary roof parts. Naturally, now the demand for tiles has decreased and local producers throughout Dakshina Kannada district has stopped its production. For necessary clay tiles,they are importing those from China, which are cheap and 'best'! ( as said by manager)
    Clay which is necessary in making such tiles is not available abundantly. So, the government of Kerala has banned mining of such clay. In Karnataka there are some mines. So, these industries are making construction blocks.
So, due to the advancement of technology, the clay tiles business is very much harmed. It's production is becoming low and somewhere its completely stopped. So improved technology became main villain or murderer in clay tiles' life!
